Tharstern have been committed to the JDF philosophy for a number of years, and want to invite printers to join those that have already started to benefit from a JDF based workflow with their Tharstern MIS.

Their recent partnering with Xerox is the latest addition to other leading vendors where JDF interoperability has been successfully achieved. Already Tharstern have active installations encompassing MIS to Pre-Press, Press and Post-Press environments and are now looking to do the same with Xerox digital workflows.

Keith McMurtrie, Managing Director, of Tharstern commented. “We are very keen to hear from printers who are interested in using JDF as part of their workflow, especially those looking to streamline their Xerox digital workflow. Candidates involved would be one of, if not ‘the’ first UK printers to achieve MIS-Digital Press integration via JDF and would benefit commercially from the associated automation, increased communication, reduced administration and better working practices.”

“We have also found with previous installations that a JDF implementation often results in improved working practices.  The nature of JDF requires, if not already present, a qualification phase before jobs are submitted to the workflow, which falls in line with good QA practice.”

Keith added. “We have been developing JDF capabilities in our MIS solution for sometime now and have worked with a number of pioneering customers who have successfully implemented a JDF workflow using Tharstern MIS and other leading vendor’s equipment. Our latest version which will be launched at IPEX 2006 has incorporated all of our JDF developments as a standard feature, as appose to an add-on, in a bid to make a JDF workflow more of a reality for printers and less prohibitive with the costs.”
